Wow! Great article.

To add, Swiggy also has Swiggy Genie in which we can ask the delivery person to buy anything from any shop. So, indirectly they can earn even when people want to buy from local stores and restaurants not under Swiggy.

Pretty interesting. Can't imagine the gain in real estate if they're making so many warehouses

Good and nicely written article. I am a software engineer at Dunzo and can vouch that this article is well researched and also well documented. Keep up the good work.

Great article! Thank you. Provides a good insight to lot of points pertaining to online shopping. Couldn't have found a better summary elsewhere.

Online bookstore kind of became a necessity since it introduced the readers to plenty of options they couldn't get in their local bookstore. Visiting restaurants can not always be a pleasant experience since one has to wait in their long queues after navigating through unforgiving traffic. Not to mention the hassles of a parking space, even for a 2-wheeler. So Swiggy and Zomato definitely solved that painpoint. Even BigBasket and Grofers are useful since we don't have to lug large bags full of groceries or spend an hour or two driving to the nearest supermarket, plus the options are pretty vast.

I'm still not convinced about why we'd need a 10-minute grocery delivery. For me, it just highlights the lack of planning and the laziness. It is a disrespect shown to fellow humans who face death on streets delivering stuff just because someone was too lazy to plan their day (or even week).

Request to kindly help me in understanding the serious needs and usecases for this craziness.
